I have to admit, coffee "alternatives" without actual coffee in them sometimes disappoint me. I really need that coffee mouthfeel, and this product actually delivers that. I was really surprised how satisfying the cocoa and chicory blend was.I'm not sure how to explain the flavor, as while it is coffee-like, it is not coffee. Nor is it 100% cocoa tasting. But you can detect the cocoa base. The vanilla edge is lovely and well balanced. I tried it both hot and cold, and while I liked both, I really was impressed with the cold. I mixed it hot, poured in a tumbler with ice and added milk and it tasted like some fancy iced drink from the shop.If I didn't read the bag, I wouldn't know it had mushrooms in it. I'm glad to get them in, without having to taste them really! I can only say, after trying several "mushroom coffees" of all sorts, and many coffee alternatives over the years, this one tastes the best by far. It has a bit of a caffeine pick-me-up feeling as well, and I loved the nice vanilla flavor with just a hint of maple. I didn't think I would, but I totally did.

I got this along with the Original flavor, and the Vanilla is an absolute home run. Well, I was not expecting to like this Joey's mushroom coffee alternative as much as I do. First off, the smell was wonderful when I first opened the package. I put the two rounded teaspoons in the cups and for mine, after I tasted it black, I added some organic sugar and cream, for my husband's I gave it to him black, then once he tasted it, I added his half and half. We both loved it. It's a rich taste, and you can taste several of the ingredients. I have had chicory, malt, cacao, cinnamon, and ashwagandha before, but some of the other ingredients, like the dandelion root and the mushroom extracts were new to me. All of them come together and make for a pleasant coffee alternative. It has a lot of the cacao flavor, which makes it taste a bit like dark hot chocolate with a touch of vanilla. I like that it contains real vanilla and uses maple syrup for the sweetener. I like that there is a lot less caffeine in this than a cup of coffee. It mixes well in the cup, with no undissolved product. Years ago, we quit drinking instant coffee, preferring our French press. This being instant made me wonder if it could be good, but yes, I can say it is very good. It is expensive and would be something I would splurge on several times a year and I would try the other flavors as well. I would recommend this for a great any time of day hot drink.

So I’ve been drinking the original Joey coffee for at least a year, on and off. As far as mushroom coffees go, it’s a good one. It doesn’t give me heartburn, which regular coffee has started to do. It also doesn’t give me any digestive issues. The original one tastes like hot chocolate and cinnamon, which is good, but sometimes I get bored of it. I was excited to see a vanilla version.Let me tell you, this is delightful. It’s so smooth! That’s the best word I can find to describe it. I tasted it black, and it was ok, but a little almond milk creamer takes it over the top into something that I’m excited to drink in the morning. The vanilla flavor is light but definitely there, and most importantly, not fake. I hate fake vanilla flavor. This has real vanilla as the first ingredient, and no artificial sweeteners.Another bonus is that with the original Joey, I had to use one of those battery whisks to get it to dissolve well, and this vanilla flavor dissolves much more easily, I can just stir it with a spoon! It doesn’t taste exactly like real coffee, but if you’re looking for something healthy and delicious as a coffee substitute, I would definitely recommend this. Honestly, it’s delicious.

Big fan of joe-y vanilla! Not a huge fan of the original flavor, but the vanilla is so good! I honestly feel like it gives me a steady energy boost without the crash that coffee or energy drinks give me. Very good if you mix 1 tbsp with 1 cup of milk, cold or hot!

I have really enjoyed this coffee alternative. It tastes similar to a chocolate milk type of powder to me. I have used it with cold milk, hot water, and I’ve thrown it in my protein shakes as well. It’s an easy way to get a bit of caffeine in me first thing in the morning. The bag is releasable and it comes with a small scooper. Depending on how much caffeine you want you can use more or less. Both options taste good.

I've tried to cut back on caffeine, so this was a fun product to try. I was very curious to try this product. I've heard a lot about mushroom "coffee" and have been interested to know what it tastes like. Many people will probably focus on the "coffee" part and compare it directly to their own coffee experience; I am not a coffee drinker, in fact hate the taste of coffee, so for me the less it actually tastes like coffee the better. I found the taste better than I expected! It tastes like a really deep, high quality hot chocolate--not the kind loaded with sugar, but the really high cacao content kind that has the bitterness of dark chocolate. The most coffee-ish flavor probably comes from the chicory and was my least favorite flavor note in the mix. I did taste the vanilla and appreciated it. I had it "black" with nothing added in; I think that I would like it with some oat milk mixed in, it might help cut the bitterness just enough to make it more enjoyable. It dissolved pretty smoothly into the hot water as well, with only a little bit of unmixed sediment remaining at the bottom. I felt alert and focused the rest of the morning after one cup as well!

I LOVE coffee, but decided to cut back last year. I kept my usual morning coffee, but I added Joe'y Original as a swap to my afternoon cup. I like that it still offers a caffeine boost but has an array of so many healthy ingredients- ones that I don't normally have in my diet. So for me win/win! I am grateful to get the opportunity to try the Vanilla flavored Joe'y now, and I will be keeping it in my rotation! I make it by just running 8 oz. hot water out of the Keurig and it stirs/dissolves well from just stirring. The taste does resemble coffee somewhat. Despite the mushrooms and other ingredients, it does not taste too overly earthy. The vanilla flavor does add a vanilla flavor and also a touch of sweetness!
