Typically I don’t often use gels in my hair as I wear a hat most days, but this Shear Revival Younger Days Gel Pomade has been handy to have. This pomade has a nice hold while styling my hair, it also doesn’t leave any greasy feeling and the smell of the pomade is quite nice. It has a citrus smell and makes my hair feel fresh compared to those other brands that leave my hair feeling stiff as a board and crunchy. Overall, it’s a good styling pomade that can hold for many hours and gives good moisturizing to your hair without leaving it sticky or stiff.

Calling this hair product a gel pomade is a very good description. It definitely creates the look of an old school hairgel with the hold of a pomade. To describe this, when the hair product has dried in place, it gives a “wet” look like gel that people used in early 90’s or the wet look of a slicked back hairstyle from a character in Grease or The Outsider. The hold is pretty strong and after four hours with a little water sprayed on my hair, I was able to re-style it and it still had the same strong hold. In today’s world, this hair product would be perfect for someone that has a low fade slick back haircut with the shortest hair being cut with a number two clipper and the top hair being as long as down to the eyebrows or bridge of the nose. It was fun to sample this hair product because I usually use shear revival northern lights which has a matte look with a good hold and this is good for different looks and I’ve been using it for a messy, wavy modern mullet as of late. Keep in mind that my experiences and opinions is based on me having thick wavy hair that naturally has a lot of volume to it so when I use these products, I’m trying to tame my ridiculous volume instead of creating volume. When my nephew sampled this hair product, it created a different look because he has straight long hair, but it also looked fresh on his modern mullet hairdo but we both agreed that using a powder hair product was better at creating the look that he was going for. I would definitely recommend this hair product.. always keep in mind that every hair product can create a specific style and create specific outcomes. You just have to be knowledgeable about what each product does and what you are trying to accomplish.

I've tried some other Shear Revival products and I'm already becoming a huge fan of this brand. The packaging is of eco-friendly, quality materials. The ingredients are plant-based and very natural.I do think this pomade is better suited to shorter hair because of its properties, but I find using a small amount worked well into my palms then lightly smoothed through my long, straight hair makes it more manageable to style and leaves my hair softer and lighter than some other products in my cabinet. It offers a loose hold without the feeling of build up.I'd say the fragrance is unisex, with notes of vanilla, mandarin and musk.Because the formula isn't loaded with chemicals, it's a little on the pricier side, but I think the value and quality match the cost.

This gel pomade from Shear revival seems to be a salon quality hair product. A semi-solid almost like a waxy gel. That mostly melts into warm hands, making it easy to apply without leaving flakes or chunks. Has light hold without looking like molded plastic. Light scent, which is listed as mandarin and vanilla. But I don't think I would have placed it as that without reading it first. Just a nice, light soft scent. Smaller size at 3.4 ounces. Which makes this a good one to travel with. But also don't leave in a hot vehicle as it does seem to melt. Don't open if hot and liquid. Does resolidify after cooling. Eco-friendly container with tightly screwed on lid. Feel this would be great for short hair, add to that perfection.

This gel pomade holds your hair in place. It is very soft and effective. It does not dry hard and crispy like some pomades. It washes out easily in the shower and has some great ingredients, like aloe oil, mango butter, grapefruit oil and candelilla wax. I love it more because grapefruit oil promotes healthy hair growth. I have stringy thin gray hair that has fly away hair always hanging in my face. I style my hair in a ponytail to help but there is always some hair hanging in my eyes. This has been the solution to my problem. It feels good to have a vegan aloe based formula with no bad ingredients that would dry out your hair. I really love the all natural mandarin and vanilla scent.

It gives a solid medium hold with a natural-looking finish that works well for clean styles like side parts, slick backs, or everyday controlled looks.The texture is easy to scoop and apply. It spreads well between the palms and works nicely into towel-dried hair without clumping. I like that it provides enough control to keep hair in place but still allows some restyling throughout the day.The scent is nice. The mandarin and vanilla combination is fresh, slightly sweet, and not overpowering. It adds a nice touch without competing too much with cologne or other grooming products.I also appreciate the ingredient approach. High in natural ingredients, nice but subtle smell, leaves things a bit shiny, hold that is good enough to last the day without being crusty or flaky, but light enough to run fingers though it toward the end of the day without gooey feelings.*It took me a few trial purchases to find this, but the Shear Revival's home site had the attached graphic with hold and shine level that would have allowed me to get it right on the first purchase.

I really enjoy quite a bit of the other styling products from Shear Revival, but this one is quite mixed for me. I like how easy it is to apply this pomade, especially if your hair is completely dry.Unfortunately, shortly after applying it, the product makes my hair look and feel excessively greasy. Instead of providing a clean or natural finish, it creates an oily appearance.I definitely enjoy their traditional styling pomade a lot more.

My 4C hair looked at this pomade and said, “Absolutely not.” 😂 It just didn’t have enough hold for my hair type. If you have finer hair, though, I think you’ll have much better luck.On the plus side, it smells super clean, doesn’t leave behind that gross sticky residue, and feels nice in the hair. I wanted it to work, but my coils had other plans.

Tried this pomade now for a couple weeks while away on a trip and it’s been pretty solid. I don’t think it reinvents the wheel but it’s decent at its job. I can definitely use it for a lot of different hairstyles depending on the occasion. But I mostly think it’s good for a slightly more polished look. The hold is decent. Not quite all day long, I still had to fix it throughout the day. But the trade off is the natural finish which sets it apart from matte finishes.I won’t talk a lot about formula because i don’t know that stuff all too well, therefore I’m not qualified in any way. The product description does include the benefits, however, it’s best to do your research on every ingredient.Besides all of that, it smelled pretty good. Just like the description. Has a very strong mandarin scent in my opinion upon opening the container, as well as emulsifying it in my hands. The pomade emulsifies in my hand easy. I can easily run it throughout my hair no problemo. I said I won’t talk about the formula but the formula allows it to be easily washed out. It’s a huge plus for people like myself because it makes cleaning my hair way easier.Also bonus point, I’m traveling and the container is already 3.4oz which is the maximum allowed on flights. But 3.4 oz is still a decent amount of pomade to last long so I don’t worry about it at all and think of it as a plus. For the price, I think this pomade is decent. Very solid pomade, for both men AND women. It works as described but nothing too crazy. Overall, I rate those 4 stars. I recommend it.

This pomade works really well! Just a teeny tiny bit with some water, and my son's hair kept a texture that is very much in style right now. I like that a little bit of product goes a long way.

This jar is glass with a metal twist lid, the pomade itself reminds me of petroleum gel consistency but is not as greasy and the scent is much more pleasant. I personally use it for my kids ballerina buns and it works great, it is not so strong that it makes her hair hard and crusty, but it holds her hair enough that it lasts through three to four hours of jumping around and performing. It was also easy to wash all off with just shampoo and did not leave her hair all greasy, overall is a nice product and we are happy with it.

Love this stuff for those days I need a little extra shine, usually after a day of American Gardens clay pomade. Sometimes I use it in conjunction with that or their Crystal Lake pomade.

Very nice gel with a not so overpowering scent! I like the natural feel it has and the way it looks on my hair after applying it. In addition to that I like how it can still keep a nice hold even with thick hair after a days work while also being friendly to sensitive skin.At last I would definitely recommend and would continue to buy more!

When I received the product, it was a bit melted from transport, but solidified by the time I went to use it a day or two later.The smell is light, very light.The shine is good and holds well for a lighter gel pomade. After having used various types of pomades (gel, clay, wax), this is a close second to the other type from the same company (I bought this and crystal lake, between the two I prefer crystal lake).Requires a good bit of application, so while I haven't used all of the jar yet, if you were to apply every day you would likely get a month to a month and a halfs worth of use before you needed to order more. It applies very easily, runs through your hair well.I'd recommend this to anyone looking to have a lighter, more shiny look with a good hold.
