What is processing time?

Processing time is the period between placing your order and the package being handed to the shipping carrier.

Most orders are processed within 2–5 business days, Monday–Friday excluding holidays.

During this time, your item may be picked, prepared, produced, finished, assembled, personalized, packed, or otherwise made ready for shipment.

Shipping time does not include processing time. Carrier transit begins after processing is complete and the package has been accepted for shipment.

Where does my order ship from?

My American Goods® uses a hybrid fulfillment model.

Some products are stocked and shipped directly by My American Goods.
Other products ship directly from the independent American brand or maker.

This allows us to offer a much broader selection of American-made products while supporting the independent businesses that make them.

Why might my order arrive in multiple packages?

Products in the same order may ship from different fulfillment locations.

As a result, items may:

Ship on different days
Arrive in separate packages
Have different tracking numbers
Use different shipping carriers or services

Receiving one package does not necessarily mean the rest of your order is missing.

How are shipping rates calculated?

Because products may ship from different makers and fulfillment locations, shipping rates can vary by product or brand.

Some products or brands qualify for free shipping above a specific threshold.
Other products may use flat-rate or carrier-calculated shipping.
Products shipping from separate locations may generate separate shipping charges.

When will I receive tracking?

For handmade, made-to-order, pre-order, or specialty products, tracking may not be available until the applicable preparation or production period is complete.

Carrier delays & missing packages

After a package has been accepted by USPS, UPS, FedEx, or another shipping carrier, transit may be affected by weather, holidays, peak-volume periods, transportation disruptions, or other carrier conditions outside our control.

Shipping and delivery timelines are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.

If tracking shows Delivered but you cannot locate the package, check:

Household members
Neighbors
Porches, side doors, garages, and other delivery areas
Parcel lockers or building mailrooms

Carrier scans can occasionally appear shortly before final delivery. If the package still cannot be located, we can assist with a carrier investigation.

An eligible return must be requested within 30 days of delivery and must be in the same condition in which it arrived.

Returns require authorization. Items sent back without approval may be refused.

What cannot be returned?

Food, beverages, snacks, honey, tea, coffee, pantry items, and other perishables or consumables
Opened, tested, sampled, swatched, or used personal-care, skincare, beauty, fragrance, wellness, bath, body, soap, deodorant, or grooming products
Items with broken seals or missing protective packaging
Custom, personalized, engraved, monogrammed, special-order, or made-to-order items
Gift cards, digital products, sale, clearance, discontinued, final-sale, or hazardous items

Taste, texture, scent, expected flavor, and personal preference do not qualify as product defects.

Damaged, defective, or incorrect item?

Report the issue within 7 days of delivery. We may request clear photos of:

The item and the reported issue
The product packaging and seals
The outer shipping package and shipping label

Keep the item and all packaging until the claim is resolved. Claims submitted after 7 days may be denied.

Who pays return shipping?

Unless we confirm that an item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, the customer is responsible for return shipping.

If we provide a prepaid label, its cost may be deducted from the refund.
Original shipping charges are non-refundable.
Return-label rates vary by package size, weight, and destination.

When will my refund be issued?

Refunds are not issued when a label is created or when a package is first scanned. The return must be received and inspected before approval.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method or as store credit, depending on the item and return circumstances.
Applicable original-shipping and return-label costs may be deducted.
Please allow up to 10 business days for processing after inspection.

Candles and fragrance products

Candles and home-fragrance products cannot be returned because of scent preference. Fragrance is subjective, and natural variations are not defects.

Lit, burned, opened, melted, warmed, or otherwise used products are ineligible for return. Report confirmed damage or defects within 7 days and include photos.

Cancellations and exchanges

Order changes and cancellations must be requested within 60 minutes of purchase. After that window, processing or fulfillment may already have begun and changes are not guaranteed.

Direct exchanges are not guaranteed. For an eligible item, the fastest option is usually to complete an authorized return and place a new order.

The Story behind Wildsam

Wildsam feels especially at home at My American Goods® because its entire purpose is to tell the stories of American places and the people who give them character.

Founder Taylor Bruce started Wildsam in 2012 with a different idea of what a travel guide could be. Rather than telling travelers only where to eat, sleep, and shop, Wildsam went deeper—talking with writers, chefs, artists, musicians, historians, park experts, craftspeople, longtime residents, and other local voices to understand what makes each destination worth knowing.

That approach is visible in every guide. A Wildsam book might take you from a neighborhood restaurant to a forgotten piece of local history, then into a conversation with a fisherman, musician, architect, tribal leader, bartender, or naturalist. The result feels less like a directory and more like a portrait of America, one place at a time.

Wildsam has also built its work through an enormous community of contributors. Bruce has credited more than 500 writers and editors, 250-plus photographers and illustrators, and thousands of local experts, while more than a million Field Guides have reached travelers through independent shops, museums, hotels, general stores, and bookstores. The business was acquired by Camping World and Good Sam in 2022, which has continued supporting the Wildsam brand and its expansion.
