What Makes Old Saguaro Woodcraft Special to Us

Old Saguaro was founded by Sean and Zach, two lifelong friends from Arizona who grew up with a deep respect for craftsmanship and the rugged beauty of the Southwest. After years of building projects together, they began creating handcrafted wood art that felt meaningful, lasting, and true to their roots. We love Old Saguaro because it embodies real American craftsmanship — two makers building each piece with intention, skill, and pride in the traditions of the desert.

FAQs

What types of wood do you use, and are they sustainably sourced?

We primarily work with domestic hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, and maple. Upon request, we can incorporate exotic species like mahogany or wenge. Whenever possible, we source from suppliers committed to responsible forestry practices.

Are your finishes food-safe?

Absolutely. For kitchenware, we rely on NSF-certified mineral oil and, occasionally, beeswax. All of our furniture pieces are finished with low- or no-VOC hardwax oils to ensure a safe indoor environment.

How do I care for my wooden items, especially cutting boards or drawer organizers?

Cleaning: Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water; avoid submerging them, and never use a dishwasher.

Drying: Pat dry immediately to help prevent warping.

Conditioning: Apply a food-safe oil or wax monthly, or as needed, to keep your wood from drying out. You’ll receive specific care guidelines with your purchase.

Where are Old Saguaro products made?

Every organizer, utensil, and board is proudly handmade in Arizona, combining modern precision tools with traditional handcrafting techniques in their small shop.

Are these products durable enough for everyday use?

Yes. Old Saguaro designs each piece as a long-term kitchen upgrade, not a disposable accessory. The hardwood construction, tight joinery, and careful finishing are built to stand up to daily cooking and constant drawer use.
