What Is a Hormel Pennant?

In the 1950s, collectibles captured the imagination of America—baseball cards, stamps, comic books, and more. In 1953, the Hormel Company joined in by attaching over five million wool felt pennants representing 95 universities to their soup cans using rubber bands.

Once advertised in comic books and grocery stores, these 4 x 9-inch felt pennants have become exceptionally rare, with few surviving in good condition today.
