What Makes Johnny Slicks Special to Us
John Raushi and Nick Koumalatsos, both U.S. Marines, founded Johnny Slicks to build a grooming line that matched their high standards: organic ingredients, real performance, and American manufacturing. They saw men’s grooming brands cutting corners — so they crafted their own. We love Johnny Slicks because it embodies American craftsmanship at its best: veteran-led, purpose-driven, made in the USA, and built to deliver.

Johnny Slicks
This conditioner feels lighter and runnier than your average formula, but that’s because it’s clearly leaning into genuinely natural ingredients rather than thickening agents and junk. It’s made with things like shea butter, aloe leaf juice, jojoba, coconut, castor, olive, and sunflower oils—all solid choices for nourishing scalp and hair. From the first few uses I noticed my hair felt smoother and more hydrated, especially around the ends, and the light formula rinsed out clean without leaving a heavy film. The scent is subtle but pleasant—just enough to feel like you’re using something special, not slapped with strong perfume. One small nitpick: because the texture is thinner, you have to be careful during application so it doesn’t drip or run more than you’d expect. But overall, the natural profile, real oils, and good performance make it stand out in a sea of “heavy” conditioners full of chemicals. And for reference I'm including some before and after pics. I think I'm “Down with the Slickness,”. Haha
The fun package design would make this a great gift.I ordered it for my husband but have tried it myself a few times. I absolutely love the smell, especially as we're entering the holiday season. It smells like a Christmas tree that you just dragged in on a bright, snowy day. I could smell it all day.I appreciate that the ingredient list is short, clean, and natural. I also appreciate that it's a veteran-owned company. As far as how it worked, it just seems a bit too heavy for my fine, curly hair. It almost feels like I'm putting lotion in my hair. My hair did feel moisturized, but it also felt a little weighed down. Not terrible, but not the best product for me. My husband isn't as fussy, and he likes it just fine. The price is a bit high for me, although it's a pretty big bottle.
Great conditioner that my husband uses every couple of days. It applies/rinses with ease. A little goes a long way. Delivers moisture and hydration while leaving hair soft and smooth. His natural curls get a nice bounce to them after using this. It is scented and I think 'rugged' is the perfect word to describe the scent. It really smells nice. He likes this and will continue to use. Says he will continue to purchase after this current bottle is done.
After using this for a few weeks my hair seems to be softer and more manageable. The price is fairly steep, but I really like the all organic ingredients, and it does seem to make my hair healthier, and I really like the scent, it's not a flower or perfume smell, more masculine.
ordering page says 8oz but the bottle i got is 16oz.has one of the caps you press down on one side and it pops up to dispense from the other side.there was a peel-off seal underneath that cap which was fully intact and yet somehow it leaked a whole lot while in transit. the cap was partly unscrewed and it was sitting in a puddle of leaked-out product.i am very entertained by the label and am fond of the whole idea behind the company.i wanted to use the product a couple of times before leaving a review.to start with... it smells like December. that... "bayberry" sort of scent that's so common around that time of year.a little bit berry, a little bit forest-y tree.i kept trying to smell something that seemed /Rugged/ but all i got was... Santa.it smells nice, but a little out of season here in July.i don't know if this is aimed more towards men or if that's just the fun art on the label but i'm a ladygirlperson and i have long, baby-fine, wavy hair.and this conditioner is not meant for hair like mine.it didn't weigh it down or make it feel oily or anything, no the exact opposite.made it floofy and somehow even thinner and even more lightweight, and yet also flattened out the waves.like instead of thickening/voluminzing it made my hair feel even thinner and more scraggly than usual, which has been incredibly depressing. soft, yes, but not any softer than it normally is.perhaps the most useful thing i can put in the review, though, is the feel of it.i used a solid conditioner bar (Jungle) many many years ago and the only way it even kindasorta worked for me was to melt it in hot water to turn it from the solid bar into a typical conditioner consistency which massively defeated the purpose of a solid bar, i know, but it allowed me to finish up what i had purchased.anyhow, in doing that, it created a goop that felt like nothing i'd ever used before. this conditioner feels much the same way as that - a little runnier than you might expect but also at the same time incredibly odd to feel. to me, very unpleasant. like the sensation of rubbing your fingers along something rubbery where it isn't slippy but grippy and wrong. once i dispensed some of this into my palm and rubbed my hands together before putting it on the lengths/ends of my hair my immediate reaction was ugh-must-wash-this-off-my-hands but i put it on my hair first and did not enjoy the sensation of rubbing it into my hair. done it three times now and i know to expect it but i still don't like it.so. if you have issues with certain tactile sensations, be warned.looking at the price, ounce-for-ounce this miiiight be the most expensive conditioner i've ever used in my nearly-fifty-years. and if it isn't, it is certainly up there - the ordering page says $37, for 8 ounces.for someone with short hair, or thick hair of any length, this might be awesome.
