Plastic-Free Beauty, Handmade in Bend, Oregon

Discover Axiology, a woman-founded Oregon beauty brand creating multi-use color sticks, lip-to-lid crayons, foundation, lip care, and mushroom-infused skincare with plant-based formulas and a serious commitment to reducing beauty packaging waste.

Founder Ericka Rodriguez began experimenting with vegan lipstick in her own kitchen after learning that many of the cosmetics she used were tested on animals. After roughly two years of formulation work, she launched Axiology in Bend, Oregon in 2014. Today, the brand still handcrafts its beauty products in its own Bend lab.

Axiology is best known for Balmies, Multi-Sticks, Shape Sticks, Fungdation, and plant-based lip care, with formulas that are vegan, cruelty-free, palm-oil-free, and designed to do more with fewer products.

It’s American-made color and skincare built around thoughtful formulas, less packaging, and a belief that beauty can leave a smaller footprint.

Axiology FAQs: Vegan Makeup, Plastic-Free Packaging & Oregon-Made Beauty

Who founded Axiology?

Axiology was founded by Ericka Rodriguez. She began developing vegan makeup after learning about animal testing in cosmetics and struggling to find vegan lip products that performed the way she wanted. Axiology officially launched from her kitchen in Bend, Oregon in 2014.

Where are Axiology products made?

Axiology says its beauty products are handcrafted in its own lab in Bend, Oregon, and current product listings identify the collection as handmade in the USA.

What is Axiology best known for?

The brand is especially known for its 3-in-1 Balmies and Multi-Sticks, which can be used across the eyes, lips, and cheeks. The assortment also includes contour sticks, lip balm, mushroom-infused foundation, and facial serums.

Is Axiology vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Axiology states that its products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, with no animal-derived ingredients. The brand also identifies itself as palm-oil-free.

What makes Axiology’s packaging different?

Axiology moved its makeup line away from plastic packaging in 2022. Its signature recycled-paper boxes are handmade by a women-run cooperative in Bali using post-consumer paper waste, while products such as Balmies eliminate the traditional plastic lipstick tube altogether.

What is Fungdation?

Fungdation is Axiology’s cream foundation made with reishi and snow mushroom extracts. It provides sheer-to-medium buildable coverage with a soft satin finish while adding a skincare-inspired element to the brand’s color collection.
