Description
Mocha Joe'y Coffee Alternative
Joe'y Mocha combines a bold, deep, dark-chocolate flavor with Joe'y's lower-caffeine coffee-alternative base. Organic dark cocoa and single-origin Peruvian cacao give the cup a richer chocolate profile, while fruiting-body mushrooms, adaptogens, chicory and roasted dandelion round out the blend.
A Functional Morning Cup With Less Caffeine
Each serving contains 55 mg of caffeine and Joe'y's blend of 12 superfoods, mushrooms and adaptogens. Joe'y uses fruiting-body mushrooms and farm-sourced ingredients, and the brand states that its ingredients are third-party tested for purity and potency. The instant format makes it simple to prepare without a brewer, pods or coffee grounds.
Flavor Profile
This is the most chocolate-forward Joe'y option: bold, deep and dark chocolatey without turning the cup into a sugary café drink. The cacao-and-cocoa blend is supported by roasted chicory, cinnamon and dandelion for a full, roasted finish.

What is processing time?
Processing time is the period between placing your order and the package being handed to the shipping carrier.
Most orders are processed within 2–5 business days, Monday–Friday excluding holidays.
During this time, your item may be picked, prepared, produced, finished, assembled, personalized, packed, or otherwise made ready for shipment.
Shipping time does not include processing time. Carrier transit begins after processing is complete and the package has been accepted for shipment.
Where does my order ship from?
My American Goods® uses a hybrid fulfillment model.
- Some products are stocked and shipped directly by My American Goods.
- Other products ship directly from the independent American brand or maker.
This allows us to offer a much broader selection of American-made products while supporting the independent businesses that make them.
Why might my order arrive in multiple packages?
Products in the same order may ship from different fulfillment locations.
As a result, items may:
- Ship on different days
- Arrive in separate packages
- Have different tracking numbers
- Use different shipping carriers or services
Receiving one package does not necessarily mean the rest of your order is missing.
How are shipping rates calculated?
Because products may ship from different makers and fulfillment locations, shipping rates can vary by product or brand.
- Some products or brands qualify for free shipping above a specific threshold.
- Other products may use flat-rate or carrier-calculated shipping.
- Products shipping from separate locations may generate separate shipping charges.
The applicable shipping cost is shown before your order is completed.
When will I receive tracking?
Tracking information is emailed once your item has been prepared and shipped.
For handmade, made-to-order, pre-order, or specialty products, tracking may not be available until the applicable preparation or production period is complete.
If the expected processing period for your item has passed and you have not received a shipping update, please contact us.
Carrier delays & missing packages
After a package has been accepted by USPS, UPS, FedEx, or another shipping carrier, transit may be affected by weather, holidays, peak-volume periods, transportation disruptions, or other carrier conditions outside our control.
Shipping and delivery timelines are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.
If tracking shows Delivered but you cannot locate the package, check:
- Household members
- Neighbors
- Porches, side doors, garages, and other delivery areas
- Parcel lockers or building mailrooms
Carrier scans can occasionally appear shortly before final delivery. If the package still cannot be located, we can assist with a carrier investigation.
Shipping address accuracy
Please review your shipping address carefully before completing your order.
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.
Packages returned because of an incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable address may require additional shipping charges before they can be sent again.

I absolutely LOVED this! I reach for this when I'm needing some energy mid-afternoon (I'm trying to drink less coffee!). My husband is a coffee snob and he really enjoys it, too. The mocha flavor is really yummy, and it strikes the perfect balance of sweetness.
I am not someone who normally drinks coffee because I do not really prefer hot beverages, so I was curious about trying this mushroom coffee alternative in a different way. I ended up absolutely loving it as an addition to my smoothies. The mocha flavor adds a delicious coffee aroma and a rich taste that really upgrades my smoothie. I mix it with my regular protein powder, and the combination creates a really enjoyable flavor that feels like a treat while still fitting into my routine. The powder blends well and adds a nice depth to the smoothie without overpowering the other ingredients. I especially like that it gives me the coffee flavor without needing to actually drink coffee.Personally, I feel like it helps me feel more focused and energized, especially when combined with my protein smoothie in the morning. Of course, everyone responds differently, but I really enjoy how it fits into my daily routine. The serving size is convenient, and the packaging makes it easy to store and use.Overall, this is a great option for people who enjoy coffee flavors but want an alternative to traditional coffee. I love using it in smoothies and feel like it adds both flavor and a nice boost to my morning routine.
Having previously tried the vanilla version of this coffee alternative, I knew exactly what to expect regarding the mechanics: it arrives as a loose bulk powder rather than individual travel packets, and it absolutely requires hot water to dissolve properly. Don't try to stir this directly into cold oat milk, or you'll end up with clumps.Where this mocha version sets itself apart is the flavor profile. While the vanilla version relies on a prominent, sweet-smelling vanilla note to balance the earthy roots, the mocha flavor leans heavily into a deep, rich cacao aroma. The moment you open the container, it smells like premium, dark hot cocoa mixed with earthy botanicals. Once you hit it with hot water, that rich, chocolatey scent blooms beautifully.Just like the vanilla, however, don't let that rich chocolate aroma fool you into thinking this is sweet! Prepared strictly according to the directions with 8 oz of hot water, it drinks like a very robust, zero-sugar dark chocolate or a stark, earthy black coffee. If you drink it completely black, it might be a bit too intense and earthy. But just like the vanilla blend, it completely transforms with a little help. I added a packet of Splenda and a splash of oat milk, and it turned into a wonderfully comforting, creamy, low-sugar mocha. The clean ingredient list (mushroom blend, dandelion root, chicory, and cacao) remains a massive selling point. Because it has significantly less caffeine than a standard cup of coffee, this has become my favorite late-afternoon routine. It provides a gentle, focusing "second wind" without any of the jitters or sleep disruption. If you prefer a deeper, more chocolate-forward profile over vanilla—and don't mind melting it down with hot water first—this is an excellent, clean addition to a wellness routine. In fact, I found myself liking this product more because the flavor seemed more deeper and complex.Pros:-Clean, high-quality superfood ingredients with a great mushroom and root blend.-Rich, deep cocoa aroma that intensifies beautifully when hit with hot water.-Excellent low-caffeine alternative for a late-afternoon focus boost without the jitters.-Transforms beautifully into a comforting cafe-style mocha with just a bit of sweetener and milk.Cons:-Loose bulk powder rather than convenient individual-serving packets.-Requires hot water to mix effectively (will not dissolve smoothly in cold liquids).-Very stark and earthy if consumed completely black without any added sweetener.
I love my Joe'y. I was so excited to try this new flavor and it did not disappoint. It has a rich mocha and chocolate flavor with it's normal earthy undertone. It's so good. I have been a fan of Joe'y for a long time so I have an acquired taste for the flavor of the original. This just gives more options. I like to put a half scoop of my favorite vanilla flavored protein mix in my morning cup and it tastes like a vanilla latte. Yum!
I drink black coffee or hot tea without sweeteners at work daily, and when I saw this become available I was interested in trying it out. Specifically the blend of ingredients seems particularly targeted for calming alertness, which sounds delightful. Anything to combat the daily stress but keep alert!I used two 8oz servings in a 16oz tumbler, and pouring freshly boiling water over it produced a rich dark beverage with a creme top. The mix was very fine and dissolved instantly with no clumping, and left no residue at the bottom afterwards. The taste is unique from anything I've tried before; I've never had a coffee alternative, so this is based solely on this one tasting. It's rich and chocolatey, and is like drinking a 95% cocao chocolate bar, with a bitter finish. As a black coffee drinker, even this bitter afterbite was a little strong for me. The drink became a treat after I added 2tsp of honey. The flavor opened up and the drink felt more filling, bordering on deep dark chocolate drinks you make in the winter time.I didn't really feel a kick in the pants, but I did generally feel well after having the full cup. I did not have the shakes I get from too much (or not enough!) coffee, and felt alert for my job. Im going to add this to my daily drink rotation of coffee, teas, and powdered drink mixes. With a touch of honey it becomes a rich treat, and I can't wait to try it with a splash of milk too.
I was skeptical that anything could replace my daily coffee, but Joey has completely won me over. The mocha flavor in particular is fantastic: rich, chocolatey, and smooth with none of the bitterness that often accompanies bad chocolate flavor. I've fully swapped my coffee for Joey, and it’s become a part of my morning routine I truly enjoy, with no afternoon crash. If you've been thinking about cutting back on coffee but worried about giving up that comforting cup, this is the one to try. Highly recommend!
This mocha-flavored mushroom coffee alternative is a nice option when I want something different from my usual cup of coffee. The chocolatey mocha flavor gives it a pleasant, rich taste, with roasted notes that make it enjoyable as a warm drink. I like that it's instant and easy to prepare, simply mixing it with hot water without needing any special equipment. It can also be mixed with milk or frothed into a latte, which offers some flexibility depending on how I want to enjoy it. The option to serve it over ice is another nice touch, especially for warmer days. With 55 mg of caffeine per serving, it provides a more modest caffeine option than a typical cup of coffee. I also appreciate that it's vegan and gluten-free. The 20-serving package is convenient for incorporating it into a regular morning routine or taking some along to work. Overall, this is an enjoyable mocha drink mix for anyone interested in trying a coffee alternative with a rich flavor and convenient preparation.
Love this mushroom coffee!!
Delicious!
Tastes a bit much like coffee for my taste for a coffee alternative. However it is Mocha flavor which makes it pretty good even if it's not great.Good quality product, good flavoring. It's a good value for your money and I do recommend it
I am close to four stars because of the price. To me, more than a dollar a cup isn't a value when I am making it at home and it is replacing coffee. Why am I not just drinking the coffee for cents a cup?Still, if you don't want coffee, or you get a lot from mushrooms, then this is for you. I don't know if I don't ever take them long enough, or if I am simply not noticing the mild effects, but I never notice mushroom supplements. Heck, I also take a mushroom gummy most days (assuming I don't forget). Am I more focused, calmer, etc.? I don't think so. Maybe I am and I don't even know how bad I would be without them. But I digress. I like this better than the original. One of my complaints about the original is that the flavor wasn't strong enough. This satisfies that need, so I do like it more. I also like that it is easy to make. I can just boil water and pour it in. Heck, I can put it in cold milk.It is probably the sort of thing I'll keep around, but I won't rush out to buy it when I run out.
Personally speaking, I do not like mocha so I would not try this. I bought this for my partner so she could have a small tasty energy boost on days where our child was too rambunctious to actually make coffee or go get some. She, as a chocolate enjoyer, loved the flavor. She had never tried a mushroom coffee before and was very surprised by this one. She said she plans to drink the remainder of the package and will probably buy more. The cost for 20 servings is $20 which is better than buying coffee out and about.
My wife and I have been drinking Joey for about a year now, and it has become a regular part of our morning routine. We still enjoy coffee, but Joey has become our go-to choice on days when we want a different kind of morning drink.I usually reach for it when I want a steady boost to help me get going. For me, it provides a smoother experience than a typical cup of coffee, and it’s something I’ve continued to enjoy long after trying it for the first time. The chocolate flavor is excellent. It’s rich without being overly sweet or artificial, and it mixes especially well with almond milk. That’s become my favorite way to prepare it, and it makes for a smooth, enjoyable drink. After using Joey consistently for about a year, I can honestly say it’s a product we’ve been happy to keep stocked in our pantry. If you’re curious about mushroom coffee alternatives, the chocolate flavor is a great place to start.
I am an obsessive coffee drinker but have tried chicory a few times and thought it was just okay. However chicory, cacao, and cocoa is a whole other story! I like to use a little bit of coffee creamer and milk to mix it up and it tastes just like a mug of dark hot chocolate. My favorite part is that it has just enough caffeine to get going but doesn't cause the other issues that come with drinking something as strong as coffee. The bag has lasted me about a month too so I feel the price is pretty fair.
I tried the original flavor and wasn't crazy about it (at least not without some additives) and I thought I'd try the mocha out. I also think the flavor is not the selling point here. But thankfully it takes additives very well, a little cream and a little sugar, just like I do with coffee, and it's a much better experience. At about $1 per serving, it's not a bad value for your money. More expensive than coffee, sure, but for the potential benefits - I think this is a good value. It's very easy to use, and mixes well. I will say I did have good energy from it, honestly better than I often get from coffee. Coffee can sometimes have an inverse effect on me and knock me right out. This actually did make me feel a bit more leveled out. No crash in the afternoon. It's definitely worth trying!
Absolutely loved this! The mocha flavor is smooth and delicious, and it's become part of my morning routine. It mixes easily, tastes great, and gives me a nice, steady boost without the jitters. My only complaint is that I ran out too quickly—I definitely need more! If you're looking for a tasty coffee alternative with added benefits, this one is definitely worth trying. I'll be ordering it again! ☕🍄
This is easily the best mushroom coffee I've ever had. Both flavors I've tried now are great, and almost remind me of the hot chocolate packets you can get at the store. I wish you got a bit more for the price, but regardless the coffee itself is great.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good this mushroom coffee alternative tastes. It has a smooth, rich flavor without the bitterness of regular coffee and provides steady energy without the jitters or afternoon crash. It mixes easily, and I've enjoyed making it part of my morning routine. A great option for anyone looking to cut back on coffee while still getting a satisfying start to the day.
I decided to try this because I liked the combination of lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps and ashwagandha. It brings together several ingredients that I already enjoy in a convenient powder that is easy to prepare. On its own the mocha flavor is decent but I found that I enjoyed it much more when I mixed it with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. That combination gave me a richer flavor while still letting me take advantage of the mushroom blend. It mixes well without leaving a gritty texture behind. The powder has been easy to work into my morning coffee and the individual servings are convenient. The package arrived fresh and everything was well sealed. I also like that it is vegan and gluten free.Overall, I have been pleased with this product. It offers a beneficial blend of ingredients and works especially well when added to regular coffee. If you are looking for an easy way to incorporate functional mushrooms into your morning cup this is a great option. Recommended.
I have been looking at mushroom coffee replacement drinks for awhile, but I have never tried one. I wanted one without coffee in it. I was thrilled to get the chance to order Joe'y and review it. I ordered the Mocha flavor. I love chocolate, so this was a big plus for me. I heated up my water in the microwave, measured out 7 grams of Joe'y to make sure it was accurate, and stirred it in. It dissolved easily. I like the way it tastes just as it comes, or with a splash of milk. I do not think it needs sweetener. If you love dark chocolate, you will probably like this flavor. I like that the roasted chicory and dandelion root, plus mushrooms, are in the drink but I can't really identify those flavors. It just tastes kind of like a roasted taste with a chocolate finish. I really enjoy it. My teenage daughter likes it as well so I am sharing the bag with her. I have had drinks like Postum before and this was so much better. There is no acidic aftertaste like you get with real coffee. There is some caffeine but not as much as coffee. I like that. I will buy this again.
Tastes great, but small package for the price. 20 servings for $20. (Which is cheaper than buying it out somewhere, but still…)
I've been enjoying Joe’y Mushroom Coffee in the Mocha flavor. I like that it combines lion's mane and reishi mushrooms, which are often associated with focus and overall wellness. It's still a bit early for me to tell whether it has noticeably improved my concentration, so I think I'll need more time to evaluate the effects. One thing I really appreciate is that it's not sweet at all. The mocha flavor is pleasant and balanced without the sugary taste that many coffee alternatives have. It mixes well and makes for an enjoyable daily coffee option. Overall, it's a good-tasting mushroom coffee, and I'm looking forward to seeing whether the cognitive benefits become more noticeable with continued use.
I recently discovered the world of mushroom coffee and have been trying different brands. I've already tried Rise, and now I've been testing Joey's Mushroom Coffee. The first thing I noticed is that the mocha flavor tastes more like hot cocoa than traditional coffee. It's rich, chocolatey, and very smooth. That said, it isn't particularly sweet. If you're someone who prefers sweeter coffee drinks, you may want to add your own sweetener. Joey's definitely leans more toward a natural, less-sweet flavor profile. What really stands out to me is the ingredient quality. After looking at the ingredient list, I was genuinely impressed. It contains some of the best ingredients I've seen in a powdered coffee product, and that quality is reflected in the overall experience.Preparation couldn't be easier. Just add hot water, stir, and you're ready to go. It's a quick and convenient morning drink when you don't have time to brew a full pot of coffee. The mocha flavor is especially enjoyable if you're a chocolate lover. It delivers a rich cocoa taste while still providing the caffeine boost you expect from your morning coffee. For me, it's a nice change of pace from traditional coffee.I'm interested in trying the Vanilla and Original varieties next to see how they compare, but based on my experience with the Mocha flavor, I'm impressed.Overall, Joey's Mushroom Coffee is a high-quality product made with excellent ingredients. If you're curious about mushroom coffee or looking to try a premium option, this is definitely one worth considering. I highly recommend it.
