📜 What Is a Hormel Pennant?

In the 1950s, collectibles swept American culture—baseball cards, comic books, stamps, and more. In 1953, the Hormel Company joined the craze by attaching over five million wool felt pennants, representing 95 universities, to their soup cans using rubber bands.

Advertised in comic books and grocery stores, these 4 x 9-inch pennants were fun, affordable tokens of school pride. Today, few survive in good condition—making each framed piece a rare collectible.
