What Makes Johnny Slicks Special
to my american goods®
Johnny Slicks was founded by John Raushi, a Marine Corps veteran, who started creating his own products after struggling to find grooming solutions that actually worked without harsh ingredients.
What began as a personal experiment quickly turned into a business built from the ground up—mixing formulas by hand, selling directly to customers, and refining products based on real feedback.
Later, alongside fellow veteran Nick Koumalatsos, the brand evolved into something bigger: a company built not just on grooming, but on a mission to challenge an industry filled with shortcuts and low-quality ingredients.
Johnny Slicks stands out because it’s not driven by trends or mass production—it’s built on discipline, craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Customers praised the woodsy, masculine scent that lingers and works for all genders. The shampoo "creates a great deal of creamy small bubble lather" and cleans thoroughly without stripping hair. Natural ingredients like coconut, jojoba, and vitamin E leave hair soft and detangled. Some noted the conditioner is runnier than expected. Price is high at $70, but products are concentrated and made in USA.

I love this set. It is very 70's and 80's. The scent is like walking into a head shop. Smells like the incense and essential oils - amber, sandlewood, and teakwood. The scent lingers a long time like the old "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific Shampoo." It is great that this is a set and the scents are the same. It is like aromatherapy in the shower, no shower steamers needed! The large bottles arrived sealed in a plastic bag and had a leakproof seal under the lids. The have a pop-up top to dispense the product. The shampoo creates a great deal of creamy small bubble lather. You do not need much to wash your hair. It cleans really well and does not strip your hair of oils but nourishes your scalp with coconut. Jojoba, castor and Vitamin E oils. The conditioner is a thin lotion consistency and at first I thought it was not doing anything because my hair did not feel like it was relaxing or oily but when I combed my hair after, it had detangled my hair so it is a detangler. My hair dried soft, silky smooth with plenty of bounce! I need to repeat that I LOVE THIS SET.
This beast wash shampoo and conditioner set comes with full sized bottles of product. Despite the name, the scent isn’t overly fake or masculine. There’s definitely elements of trees in the smell without smelling super musky or flowery. I think this could easily work for any genders. The products are a little more runny than I’m use to, but it’s easy enough to adjust. The shampoo leaves my hair feeling very clean and I think most people would benefit from using the conditioner as well. This combination leaves my hair feeling very soft and nice for a couple days.
I have pretty short hair and am not too picky about my shampoo. I do like a thick lather, and this shampoo definitely has that covered. And unlike some other shampoos with natural ingredients, it does not have a strange medicinal scent. Not only does it smell great (somewhat masculine woodsy/pine scent, but should work for women as well), but it also stays with you for a long time; 24 hours later, your hair still smells freshly shampooed. The shampoo also gets your hair squeaky clean. The conditioner is a bit runnier than most I've used and doesn't leave your hair feeling as soft either. But maybe that means it won't leave as much buildup? The conditioner scent is similar but not quite as potent as the shampoo. Seems to be a good product overall. A little bit does go a long way, and these are large 16 oz bottles, so that helps defray the cost somewhat. I'm happy to have these but will probably make them last longer by rotating in cheaper shampoo every couple days.
Absolutely love the fragrance of this shampoo and conditioner, reminds me of a men’s cologne. My husband used it and his hair smelled so good after his shower. It has a good lather with just a small amount so the price might seem high but it isn’t when you will get a lot of shampoos out of it. Love that it is a military company and made in the USA. It has a pop top cap so you get just the right amount out without any waste. I would definitely order this again
The ingredients list on this set of shampoo and conditioner are what led me to get the set and I’m glad I did. I’ve got super long, super fine hair and not all shampoos and conditioners work for me, but this set does. The shampoo is average consistency and lathers well, and rinses out cleanly. The conditioner is also average consistency and rinses well, leaving a softening/detangling film that doesn’t weigh my fine hair down and doesn’t leave it looking greasy. The scent is a bit musky/woodsy - very pleasant and not overpowering.Despite all the ‘manly’ imaging and text, they work as well for a woman as they do for men - both my husband and I have tried them and both of us like them. I do think the price of $70 for a set of shampoo and conditioner is a bit high, but they are made of real ingredients, are US made, and according to the package are Handmade by..Hands.
Seems obvious this shampoo and conditioner set from Johnny Slicks is very high end. Hard to place the scent. Lathers up well. Nice slippage. Rinses. Seems very moisturizing with the shea butter, vitamin E and aloe. All which has been good experiences with hair. Especially dry and curly. These ingredients combine with what is listed as scent notes of "amber, teakwood, coffee beans, charred woods of pine, cedar, and sandalwood." Hard to describe. Lovely woodsy scents which it seems also has a minty twist. Hard to describe. But nice and lingering scent. Made in the USA- north Carolina - by a marine veteran owned company. Cool. Seems a little pricey at $70 for the set. But this isn't a typical shampoo or conditioner. Even the wording on the label is awesome. Much to like . Comes well sealed.
This shampoo and conditioner left my hair soft and smelling great. Perfect for guys. Great size this would last long time. Made in the USA with toxin free ingredients and ethically sourced. Bottles are 16 oz each.
This is an excellent product. It's not cheap but leaves you feeling clean and smelling great. My gf loves the scent.
My husband has been using the shampoo and conditioner for about two weeks. My daughter has even used it too. The scent is light and not strong or overpowering and it leaves our hair clean and soft without feeling greasy. We all have different hair types, and it works for everyone. A little goes a long way, and the quality is definitely better than other brands.
I don’t usually put too much thought into hair products—if it smells decent and gets the job done, I’m usually good. But I decided to try this Hair Cleaning Kit because I’ve been dealing with a dry scalp and dull hair lately, and I wanted something a little more natural and less harsh than the usual drugstore stuff. After using this set for a couple of weeks now, I can honestly say it’s a noticeable upgrade from what I was using before.First off, the scent is really nice. It’s clean and fresh, not overly perfumed or “flowery,” which I appreciate. It smells like something both men and women can use, but it still feels masculine enough for me. More importantly, my scalp doesn’t feel tight or itchy anymore after washing—something I didn’t even realize was a regular issue until it stopped happening. I think the combo of aloe, shea butter, and vitamin E is doing its job because my hair feels softer and healthier, and it looks more hydrated without being greasy. The shampoo lathers up well even though it’s organic, and the conditioner actually feels like it’s moisturizing instead of just coating my hair with fake softness like some other brands do. I’ve even noticed less flaking around the hairline, which has been a long-time annoyance for me, especially in the colder months.I also like that it’s a straightforward, no-nonsense two-piece set—nothing gimmicky, no weird ingredients I can’t pronounce. Just solid, natural hair care that actually works and feels good to use. If you’re a guy who doesn’t want to overthink hair care but still wants something that works and keeps your scalp happy, this is a solid pick. I’ll definitely be sticking with it.
First, I will say that this shampoo and conditioner is marketed to men, most of who don’t have the same hair care needs as women. I got this for my son to try, and I also tried it out, with my very long hair. The scent is wonderful. Woodsy, with a citrus/pine scent I love. It is also very lasting in the hair and on the skin. The shampoo more so than the conditioner. My hair felt ok after the shampoo. It lathered well. It isn’t super conditioning, but it also didn’t leave my hair feeling harsh or straw like, after rinsing. The conditioner is not very thick. Kinda runny and not super hydrating, but again, this is not marketed as a deeply conditioning product for women. It detangled fairly well for me. My son thought it performed very well for him.My hair feels nice and smells divine!I really love that scent. I’d probably buy it just to use as a body wash for myself. It’s masculine, yet so nice and earthy/ woodsy!Made in USA without toxic ingredients for the win!
