Daughters of Promise was founded by Rachel Slabach, who continues to serve as the ministry’s founder and chief editor. What began as a small publication for Anabaptist women has grown into a larger creative ministry offering print resources, study materials, and home goods.

Daughters of Promise is a Christian ministry rooted in the Anabaptist faith tradition. Its mission is to encourage women in their everyday practice of faith through thoughtful print and online content, creative resources, and meaningful goods for daily life.

Commonplace is the ministry’s print publication, featuring essays, stories, poetry, photography, artwork, Bible studies, interviews, and reflections centered on noticing the beauty and goodness found in ordinary life.

The shop includes magazines, journals, notebooks, planners, prayer cards, books, artwork, leather goods, pottery, drinkware, apparel, and other faith-inspired home and gift items.

Many qualifying pieces are. For example, the Commonplace Notebook and Mother Heart are explicitly printed in the USA, while the “All Will Be Well” leather wristlet is handmade in the USA.

Daughters of Promise is first and foremost a creative ministry and publishing community. Many of its products grow out of the same mission behind Commonplace: encouraging women through thoughtful writing, Scripture, art, reflection, and beautifully designed everyday objects. The result is a collection that feels intentional and editorial rather than simply faith-themed merchandise.
