MamaSuds started with a problem that will feel familiar to plenty of parents: Michelle C. Smith wanted to clean her daughter’s cloth diapers without using a laundry product that left behind unwanted residues.

Instead of settling for what was available, she made her own.

That practical beginning still comes through in the company today. MamaSuds isn't simply putting a cleaner-looking label on conventional household products. Its signature Laundry Soap starts with the brand's own olive oil Castile soap, and the company puts unusual emphasis on helping customers understand exactly what ingredients they are bringing into their homes.

We also appreciate the nuance behind its American-made philosophy. MamaSuds says Made in the USA is its first preference when sourcing supplies, but it doesn't treat domestic sourcing as more important than ingredient quality.
