Key Ingredients
Grass-Fed Tallow
Known for its compatibility with the skin’s natural oils, helping the balm absorb smoothly and leaving the skin feeling soft and conditioned. Naturally contains a blend of fatty acids and nutrients that contribute to a healthy-looking glow.
Organic Rosehip Oil
Provides a moisturizing, softening feel and supports an even, radiant appearance.
Organic Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Adds silkiness and helps the skin feel nourished and comfortable.
Mango Butter
Creates a smooth, creamy texture and stabilizes the balm.
Organic Jojoba Oil
Lightweight and balancing, rich in B vitamins, zinc, and copper.
Organic Camellia Oil
A silky oil that helps maintain a soft, well-conditioned feel.
Vitamin E Oil
Moisturizing and acts as a natural preservative to support product freshness.
Why No Honey?
Honey and tallow do not blend evenly, often sinking to the bottom of the jar. Rose Hip Oil is used instead for its silky texture and nourishing feel. For honey blends, explore whipped balms.

What Makes Free the Body Co. Special To Us
Free the Body was born from the founder’s personal journey — after years of skin problems and unsatisfying moisturizers, she discovered the power of grass-fed tallow and dedicated herself to making clean, effective, handcrafted skincare in her Oregon studio.
We love Free the Body because it reflects real American craftsmanship and honest care: small-batch production, simple ingredient lists, and products built not on trend but on nourishment and skin health. Their balms aren’t just skincare — they’re a return to what works, made with integrity in the USA.
Free the Body Co. FAQs
Are Free the Body products vegan?
No — Free the Body balms and creams contain grass-fed beef tallow, which is an animal-derived ingredient. They are not vegan.
Where should I store my balm to keep it from melting?
Tallow begins to soften around 85 °F (≈ 29 °C). If you live in a warm climate, it’s recommended to store your balm in the refrigerator. Otherwise, storing at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, is fine.
How long will a jar of balm last?
Typically, a 2 oz jar of poured balm lasts several weeks with regular use on face or body — because a little goes a long way.
What’s with the “grainy” or “soft” texture sometimes seen in the balm?
A soft or grainy texture is a sign of pure, natural formulation without synthetic stabilizers — it reflects that you’re using a clean, unadulterated balm.
How can I restore melted tallow balm?
How to Revive a Melted Balm
Unfortunately it happens. With a melting point of 85 degrees, it doesn't take much for your tallow balm to melt. Learn how to revive or harden a melted tallow balm here:
- POURED BALM: simply give it a little whirl and put it in the fridge. It won't take long to set up. If you live in a warm climate, we recommend storing your balm in the fridge for best consistency.
- WHIPPED BALM: a melted whip balm can be disappointing but it's still amazing to use. Just follow these steps:
- Warm your balm (jar and all) in a hot-water bath: place it in a pot with about an inch of water and turn on the heat to a simmer. It does not take much heat to melt.
- Once melted, you have two options: start using, or, pour out the contents into a bowl and place the bowl in the fridge to cool. After it's cooled and hardened, with a set of electric beaters, rewhip your balm until desired consistency is reached. Then, scoop your newly whipped balm into back into the jar. You're good to go.
Are Free the Body products suitable for sensitive skin?
Many choose these balms because of their simple ingredient list (grass-fed tallow + few additional ingredients), making them a good option for people seeking minimal-ingredient skincare.
